We are considering hiring ARLG to help with WFM modification. ARLG wants half the fee up front first to start the procedure then the rest in one month. Has anyone had any experience with ARLG? Good or bad. I feel good about them, but since we are already 2 months behind on our mortgage really afraid to take the chance to lose money as it is in short supply for us.

We tried modification with WFM ourselves and after months of a run around they lowered it $87 dollars a month.

Your immediate response is welcome and needed.

Vicki,

I attached the report for Joel S.Jacobi PA which does business as American Residential Law Group. They are accredited members of the BBB with an excellent rating.

They provide several attorney services including loan modifications. Also, recent law became effective October 11, 2009, prohibiting collection of an advance fee by both licensed real estate brokers and licensed attorneys whose principal business is negotiating loans secured by real property. (Lawyers for whom negotiating such loans is incidental to the practice of law are not subject to this prohibition.) The prohibition also applies to taking any wage assignment, collateral or other security to secure payment. No power of attorney may be taken for any reason. This newest law also redefines "advance fee"to include a fee of any kind.
